What resources are available to me at the Scotch Library?

The Scotch Library provides a wide array of readily available resources to assist and guide you in your study, research and school life.

Below is a list of the types of Resources/Services offered, as well as where you will be able to access them.

What are these resources and how can they help me? 

  • Databases
    • ​Quality information sources containing keyword-searchable information, often including citations for easy referencing.
    • Great for assignments where gathering information from multiple sources is useful. 
    • Documents are often peer-reviewed, offering credibility of sources. 
       
  • Research Guides 
    • ​Guides compiled by Scotch staff, with subject-specific information that provides handy starting points for your studies. 
       
  • Practice Exams
    • ​Allow you to practice past exam papers. 
    • Allows you to become familiar with the types of questions asked in  exams.
    • Allows you to become more practiced and attuned to exam conditions.
       
  • Books/eBooks
    • Allows access to both physical books and eBooks.
    • Provides reading recommendations from Library staff.
    • eBooks open up on your personal computer as well as your iPad.
    • You are able to read samples to see if your book is appropriate. 
       
  • Audio Books
    • For those who prefer auditory learning, or just a more relaxed way to enjoy a story. 

 

Note: If you want reading material that is not available from the Scotch Libraries, that you think would be of benefit to your learning, please speak to Miss Flowers or Mrs Wilkes in the Library or send an email request to library@scotch.wa.edu.au  We may be able to purchase it for you.

  • Lynda  
    • Lynda is a video tutorial data base that offers a vast range of great training videos on many topics. 
    • Each video is carefully explained and laid out in a step-by-step manner to make learning as simple and streamlined as possible.
       
  • ClickView  
    • A video database that allows you to access both entertainment and educational content. 
    • ClickView 24/7 is a service that provides up-to-date recordings of the latest news, tv shows and documentaries from Free-To-Air channels on the Perth Television Network.
