Q. What style of referencing is required at Scotch?
For all referencing at Scotch, you are required to use APA 6th edition. There is lots of information available on the library webpage, including multiple examples. If you have any queries regarding your referencing, feel free to contact the Information and Research Specialists, Miss Flowers and Mrs Wilkes, who are located in the library.
Students undertaking research are expected to List All Sources of Information. There are multiple ways to list the information that you have used:
- A Reference/Citation refers to a resource from which an idea or direct quote has been taken.
- An 'In-Text' Reference, citing the author and date, is placed within the sentence or below a quotation inside curved brackets.
- A Reference List is an alphabetical listing of all resources that have been referenced in the text of the report, essay or assignment and is placed at the end.
- A Bibliography is an alphabetical listing of all resources that have been used, including all those referenced in the text of the work. Like the reference list, it is placed at the end of the report, essay or assignment.
