Answer
If you have an upcoming overseas trip and need to use your school-issued phone, please contact the ILT department via email.
- Email techcentre@scotch.wa.edu.au with the dates of your departure and return, and the countries you will be visiting. The ILT department will then arrange with Telstra for your international roaming to be enabled for the duration of your trip, and your data/MMS to be disabled so you can avoid any accidental charges.
Please click on this link for current pricing for Telstra Day Pass. If you are on school business, the cost will be met by Scotch College. If you are on personal leave, you will be charged for each day that you request/use the Day Pass. When you arrive at your destination, a re-start on your phone will ensure that you are connected properly.
- If you do not need to use a Day Pass (i.e. you can use the phone for calls and messages but not for internet) you will need to Disable your Mobile Data Roaming. You can do so by following these steps:
- Go to your phone's Settings
and select Mobile.
- Select Mobile Data Options.
- Turn Data Roaming OFF - a white button means that it is switched off.
- Go to your phone's Settings
- If you do need or want to use Day Pass, so that you can access web-based services (such as Google Maps), you will need to ensure that Mobile Data Roaming is Enabled (follow the above steps, but set Data Roaming so that the button is green).
