At the Scotch Library, there are a variety of high fidelity USB Microphones that enable you to record high quality sound straight to your computer; handy for lesson narration, podcasts etc.

All of these microphones function and work in the same way.

  1. First, connect the Microphone to your computer via the USB Cord.
    • At Scotch we have the Blue Yeti Snowball and the Samson Meteor USB Studio Microphone available for loan.
  2. Then, open up a piece of recording software that allows you to record sound. e.g. Adobe Audition QuickTime Player . In this example I'll be using QuickTime Player .
  3. Once open, you need to make sure that QuickTime Player  is using the connected microphone. Select File and then select New Audio Recording

  4. Select The Drop Down Arrow (next to the red button) to make sure that you have selected your connected microphone, to be sure, you will see a tick next to the Microphone's Name.

  5. Your microphone is now connected and is ready for recording.
