Answer

Using the reading interests feature in the Oliver OPAC generates email notifications when relevant new books are catalogued at your library. Setting up 'Interests' can only be done through Oliver, however, notifications will still show up in Orbit by going to 'My Library' and selecting the 'Messages' tab. If you click on a message in Orbit, it will take you back to Oliver.

 

To add interests:

  1. Log into the Oliver Oliver logo OPAC
  2. Click on your name near the login button to display the drop-down menu
  3. Click on ‘Interests
  4. Click on ‘Add Interest’ on the left menu
  5. Click on the type of interest you would like to add (author, genre, series, subject)
  6. Start typing your search term in the text box and select from the list that displays
  7. Click 'Save Interest'

 

You will now receive an email notification whenever a new book that matches your interest is catalogued.

To remove interests:

  1. Click on your name near the login button to display the drop-down menu
  2. Click on ‘Interests
  3. Click on the ‘Delete’ button next to the interest you want to remove
  4. Click on the ‘Delete’ button on the pop-up box
