What are the overall procedures for overdues in the Junior School Library?
Students in ELC
Students receive an overdue slip every library lesson or the day before if possible. These are printed by the LSS and put in diaries by the ELC EAs. Please see the procedures for printing class overdue slips here: https://ask.plcscotch.wa.edu.au/ilt/faq/224439
ELC students can still borrow if they have a book less that 2 weeks overdue: after that chat to the EA and explain why the student can't borrow. They will write a note in the student's diary.
Students in Years 1 - 5
Students receive an overdue slip every library lesson, printed by the LSS and handed out by the TL. Please see the procedures for printing class overdue slips here: https://ask.plcscotch.wa.edu.au/ilt/faq/224439
Parents are emailed weekly when books are 4 - 6 weeks overdue and 6 - 8 weeks overdue.
Parents are emailed mid-term if their son still has books outstanding from the previous term.
Parents are emailed in week 8 as a final warning that charges are pending, after slips in class and at least three parent emails including mid-term warnings of possible charges. Please see the procedures for generating parent emails here: https://ask.plcscotch.wa.edu.au/ilt/faq/224438
If a student have an overdue library book*, they may not borrow unless:
- They are borrowing a book for Renaissance reading
- They are borrowing a book for schoolwork, for example Year 5 Exhibition
*The slips will include overdue home readers as well as library books. Students can still borrow if they have home readers overdue.
Junior School Staff
Staff receive an overdue slip for items in their name, and their respective class bulk loan account, in the second last week of Summer, Autumn and Winter terms. These are printed and placed in staff pigeonholes by the LSS.
In Spring Term, staff receive an overdue slip for items in their name, and their respective class bulk loan account, at the end of both the third and second last weeks of term.
Please see the procedures for printing JS staff overdue slips here: https://ask.plcscotch.wa.edu.au/faq/230852
LSS may need to consult the UOI timeline and check that teachers do not still need overdue items for teaching and learning.
