Answer
Family Sharing allows several Apple services to be available to up to 5 family members from a single Apple ID. This enables family members to have access to these services without having to formally register their own Apple ID (particularly useful for young family members).
Family Sharing gives access to iTunes
, Apple Books
, an Apple Music
family plan, Photos
and additional storage
. Family Sharing
also allows family members to request purchases through the AppStore
that can only be permitted by the owner of the primary Apple ID.
If you wish to allow Family Sharing on your son's Scotch device, there is a processes that must be followed depending on the device and the sub-school in which your son is based. If the device is an iPad it will need to be unlocked by the Tech Centre.
Email the Tech Centre to request that your son's device be added to your Family Sharing , and an appointment will be arranged with an ILT Integrator. For that appointment, you will need to:
- Have set up Family Sharing
with your Apple ID and added family members to that account
- Be accompanied by your son with his device (he will need to give us access)
We will arrange for the device to be unlocked (if necessary) and take you through the process.
